The Sultanate of Oman has a long and proud heritage, and it is a country of great natural beauty on the southeast corner of the Arabian Peninsula. With a population of approximately 2.4 million, it is a monarchy that has developed rapidly in the past three decades. While Oman is a very traditional Islamic country and Islam is the state religion, Omanis have for centuries lived with people of other faiths.
